But when I started to do some research online, I found some reviews by employees that were horrible. Should I cancel the interview? - Eva J.T.: Let's turn this situation around. Suppose a hiring manager saw your resume and asked you in for an interview, but then did some online research that turned up some nasty things a former friend said about you, and canceled your interview. You'd want a chance to explain yourself, right? It often happens that disgruntled ex-employees get vocal on anonymous feedback boards as a way to feel they are getting even. DALE: And those angry employees may have it right, but I agree with J.T. about withholding judgment. That doesn't mean that I ignore the issue in the job interview - just the opposite. I'd go in with quotes from those online sources. Perhaps there's a clear explanation, such as an obnoxious executive who's been replaced. Or, it may just be a slimeball company.
